FinalKey is organized into six categories so you can capture everything a family actually needs. (1) Digital accounts — email, social media, banking, utilities, subscriptions, and saved passwords. (2) Insurance policies — life, health, auto, home, long-term care. (3) Estate planning — wills, trusts, powers of attorney, deeds, beneficiary designations. (4) Legal documents — property records, contracts, end-of-life wishes, organ-donor forms. (5) Photos & memories — uploaded to your private cloud so they aren't trapped on one device. (6) Final wishes and personal notes — funeral preferences, messages for specific people, anything you'd want them to hear. Add as many entries as you want under each category; reorder them, edit them any time, and remove ones that no longer apply.
Access is intentional and verified. While you're alive, you designate the people you trust — a keyholder (typically a spouse or executor), and any additional trusted contacts (adult children, attorney, etc.). When the time comes, a designated contact submits an access request through our secure portal. We then run identity verification: matching a government ID, the death certificate when relevant, and confirmation against your pre-set keyholder. Only after all three checks pass does the requested portion of your vault open for them. You decide in advance what each contact is allowed to see — full vault, financial only, documents only — so nobody gets more than you intended. Nobody on our team reads your vault along the way; we're the messenger, not the audience.
Every entry is encrypted in your browser using AES-256-GCM before it ever leaves your device, so it travels to our servers already scrambled. Your encryption key is never stored in plaintext anywhere we can see — we genuinely cannot read your vault, and neither can anyone at our hosting provider, Stripe, or our CRM. Backups are encrypted with the same standard. The one-time $245 purchase unlocks your vault for life; the optional $25/year Secure Hosting & Monitoring layer adds checked backups, periodic stale-info scans, and a permanent fallback link in case a contact ever loses theirs. We chose zero-knowledge architecture specifically so that "what if FinalKey gets breached" never becomes "what if FinalKey gets breached and your passwords leak."
Sign in to /app from any browser and edit anything in your vault the same way you'd update a contact in your phone — add an account, change a password, remove a deceased beneficiary, swap a new trusted contact in. It saves instantly, encrypted again on the way out. If you've added Secure Hosting & Monitoring ($25/year), we periodically flag entries that look stale (old passwords, lapsed insurance, contacts who may have changed addresses) so you can refresh them.
